About Dan Hoard

Hi.  You have clicked the blog of Bengals and Bearcats broadcaster Dan Hoard.  That’s me along with my adorable son Sam (I am the bald one).  My wife Peg obviously gets all of the credit for Sam’s good looks.

I joined the Cincinnati Bengals organization in 2011 after spending six years as the voice of the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.  It marked a return to Cincinnati where I was a sports anchor/reporter for WXIX-TV, the host of the Cincinnati Reds pre-game show on Fox Sports Ohio, and the radio voice of University of Cincinnati football and basketball on 700-WLW (I continued to call UC games during my time in Pawtucket).

I grew up in Lakewood, New York, a small town on the southwest tip of New York State and attended Syracuse University.  A month before graduation I was hired as a minor league announcer for the Syracuse Chiefs of the International League. I spent several years in radio as the Sports Director at WSYR-AM, before getting into TV at WTVH-5, the CBS affiliate in Syracuse (for you trivia buffs, the person most responsible for hiring me was Mike Tirico of ESPN fame).

I welcome your comments, suggestions, and criticisms.  Thanks for checking out the blog.
